Quality Control Circle

This is a Japanese Management Concept which was introduced in 1962. Operation of Quality Circles There is no exact number in the group but normally it ranges from 5 to 12. Smaller the better and participation is productive. The discussions are not restricted but to the problem concerned. Normally a productive meeting is not more than one hour. Most of the time once a week meetings but this depends on the problem that is being tackled . Quality Control circle activities are not just voluntary and motivational campaign. Training in the quality control tools and other methods should be continued permanently on a scientific basis. Training of Quality Control Circles The training of circle leaders and members is the foundation of all successful is the programmes. The purpose of training is that the ideas must be easy to take in and be put across in a way which facilitates understanding. Simplicity must be the key word. These teams meet regularly to discuss quality matters. According to Japanese, these circles are part of total quality control activity. The Basic Philosophy of Quality Control Circles 1.To create contribute to the improvement and development of the corporate culture. 2.To create cheerful work places that make life worthwhile and where humanity is respected. What are these activities ? Quality Control circles are small groups of employees from the same factory carry out quality control activities voluntarily. These group carry out self development and mutual development as a part of company wide quality control activities and use quality control tools to control and improve their work place continuously, every one taking part.
